Course Description:
This course studies the error analysis, roots of equations, the solution of the linear and the non-linear systems of the equations, interpolation and extrapolation, the linear and the non-linear curve fitting, the numerical differentiation and integration, the numerical solution of the differential equations and the chemical engineering applications by using the available software.
Course Outline:
Chapter one: mathematical modelling and engineering problem solving. Chapter two: programming and software. Chapter three: approximation and round-off errors. Chapter fifteen: constrained optimization. Chapter eighteen: interpolation. Chapter twenty-three: numerical differentiation. Text book: Numerical Methods for Engineers 6th edition (Steven C.
