Course Description:
Review and describe the growth and development mechanism of micro-organisms, kinetic of growth and product formation, aeration and agitation, it also provides the basic principles of downstream processing.

Course Outline:
Part 1: basic concepts and principles ( chemical and biochemical kinetics, cell kinetics). Part 2: unit operations and apparatus for biosystems (membrane processes, cell-liquid separation, sterilization). Part 3: practical aspects in bioengineering (fermentor engineering, control of bioprocesses, downstream operations in bioprocesses)
